Overview

LF Broadband will be represented at Connected Britain 2026, the UK’s largest gathering of digital infrastructure operators, alt-nets, policymakers, and technology partners. Held in London on September 9 and 10, the event convenes the community shaping how the United Kingdom builds, funds, and modernises its national broadband and connectivity infrastructure.

LF Broadband on the Agenda

Francisco de Carvalho, LF Broadband Governing Board voting representative and Radisys, will speak on Wednesday, September 10 at 11:40 in the session Next-generation monetisation: Unlocking value in connectivity and beyond.

The session sits directly on top of the technical foundation LF Broadband has been building with the community. VOLTHA and SEBA give operators a vendor-neutral abstraction layer for PON, together with the telemetry and open interfaces needed to launch, differentiate, and monetise new services across multi-vendor access networks. That foundation is already in production with Deutsche Telekom, Türk Telekom, and Reliance Jio, and it is a prerequisite for the AI-assisted operations models operators are beginning to deploy in the access layer.

About the Event

Connected Britain assembles the operators, investors, vendors, and public-sector leaders responsible for the next phase of UK connectivity, from full-fibre rollout and rural coverage to 5G, satellite integration, and the policy environment underpinning the country’s digital economy. Organiser Terrapinn expects the 2026 edition to convene approximately 8,000 industry experts, innovators, and policymakers.

UK altnets and incumbent operators are actively expanding XGS-PON, evaluating multi-vendor access architectures, and navigating the cost and sovereignty pressures that make open source, disaggregated broadband platforms increasingly attractive.
